McLaren Racing is a leading player in the world of Formula 1, and we're looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our team. As a Senior Associate, Data Science, you will play a key role in unlocking new insights from our data, improving our effectiveness in car development, and driving our performance forward on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative, data-driven solutions to technical challenges alongside senior members of the team.
- Explore complex datasets, develop models and processing algorithms, evaluate their success, and create deployment pipelines.
- Work on projects through all stages of the development life cycle from initial analysis and requirements gathering through to deployment and operational support.
- Understand and use provided project architectures and specifications to create robust, scalable, and testable software and data science solutions.
- Understand and use provided data science, modeling, and optimization techniques to implement analytical solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Develop an understanding of work timescales and ensure project leads are well informed of your progress.
- Understand the priorities of various projects and learn to manage your workload efficiently.
- Understand project risks when they are outlined to you and take steps to mitigate them.
Requirements:
- Strong academic background with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- Knowledge of standard data science algorithms and techniques in regression and classification.
- Previous experience with software and data analysis in a technical environment.
- Competent with Python programming.
- Able to discuss the latest data science concepts with the team based on an academic research paper.
- Experience with standard data exploration techniques to understand underlying behavior.
- Knowledgeable of Python data science packages, including scikit-learn and PyTorch/Keras/TensorFlow.
- Experience in the analysis of complex data sets to understand underlying behavior.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming and development of large software projects.
- Experience with MLOps, development and production pipelines, and deployment frameworks.
- Some knowledge of web development techniques or of dashboarding libraries such as Streamlit.
