Job Description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team at a school in Hampshire that specializes in providing exceptional specialist education for students with autism (ASC) and other associated needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized support to students with ASC, assisting them with academic tasks, social interactions, and emotional regulation.
  • Facilitate learning as directed by the teacher and in line with pupils' Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
  • Support behavioral strategies tailored to the specific needs of each student.
  • Support students during classroom activities, helping them to stay engaged, focused, and on task.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and valued.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop and implement effective support strategies that promote student progress and independence.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Promote the development of essential life skills, including communication, socialization, self-care, and enhancing students' independence and wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with ASC or other special educational needs is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of students with ASC.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of students and the school community.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special educational needs, or a related field would be advantageous.
