Temporary Educational Support Assistant

Autism Unlimited is a specialized institution dedicated to assisting children with autism and various learning challenges. Our educational services are in high demand, with a current team of 85 support staff catering to 110 students across our educational programs.

We are excited to expand our team at Autism Unlimited. With the addition of new students and classrooms, we are seeking more Educational Support Assistants.

Position Overview:

We are in search of Temporary Educational Support Assistants to join our dedicated team. Shifts typically run from 09:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with some flexibility available. You will receive notifications regarding available shifts, and you can indicate your availability. Your role will involve providing coverage for training sessions, outings, and staff absences.

In this position, you will support students in either our primary or secondary education phases. You will work with small groups of up to 9 students, guiding them through their educational experiences. Educational Support Assistants play a crucial role in fostering an engaging classroom environment, enabling students to achieve their maximum potential.

The age range for our Primary phase is approximately 4-10 years, while the Secondary phase caters to students aged 11-16.

In collaboration with the Teacher, you will assist in lesson preparation and the delivery of the curriculum. Your responsibilities will include helping students comprehend lesson activities, supporting their learning, and nurturing essential life skills for their future. You will also be responsible for documenting and reporting on student progress and achievements.

This role can be demanding and physically challenging, so qualities such as effective communication, enthusiasm, and resilience are essential. Witnessing our students flourish is a rewarding aspect of this position, and you will receive continuous support from our experienced leadership team.

You will have the opportunity to work in specialized facilities, including therapy pools and sensory rooms, which provide unique and inspiring learning environments. While swimming skills are not a requirement, comfort in shallow water with students is necessary.

  • Hold GCSE grades A* - C in Maths and English (desirable)

Onboarding and Development:

As a member of our team, you will undergo a comprehensive 12-week onboarding program, which includes various in-house training and development opportunities. This will equip you with the knowledge to effectively support each student. You will also have the chance to enhance your skills throughout your career, whether through learning sign language, becoming a training tutor, or pursuing NVQ qualifications for career advancement. Previous experience in this field is not mandatory.
