The Role
The Business Development Manager (MICE and Elite Sports) plays a crucial role within the Commercial team, responsible for crafting, leading, and implementing the strategic sales initiatives aimed at generating new business in these vital sectors. This position emphasizes relationship building, effective CRM utilization, and thorough analysis of sales pipelines to enhance revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for MICE and Elite Sports, aligning with broader commercial objectives.
- Continuously identify and pursue new business prospects, targeting key organizations and decision-makers to foster growth.
- Collaborate with the Resort Revenue Director and M&E Sales Manager to address revenue risks and exceed targets.
- Ensure tailored proposals meet client specifications through close collaboration with the M&E Sales Manager and Diary Manager.
- Monitor and report on key sales performance indicators regularly, identifying areas for enhancement.
- Manage and expand the database of corporate bookers, travel managers, and event agencies effectively.
- Utilize CRM tools to maintain ongoing communication with target bookers and agencies.
- Foster strong relationships with existing clients and prospects, ensuring account development aligns with strategic plans.
- Represent The Lensbury Resort at industry events and exhibitions to enhance visibility.
- Organize and conduct familiarization trips and site inspections to facilitate new business conversions.
- Identify and secure meetings with prominent event agencies.
- Maximize opportunities from online listings and maintain relationships with relevant platforms.
- Work alongside the Marketing Manager to ensure alignment between sales and marketing efforts.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of sales initiatives and strive for continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
- Analyze and manage all aspects of the sales pipeline across various market segments.
- Promote and sell services using compelling arguments while conducting thorough needs assessments.
- Engage in market research and analysis to inform sales strategies.
- Collaborate with department heads to optimize new business opportunities.
- Participate in regular Commercial meetings to align on revenue-driving activities.
- Attend weekly meetings to strategize promotional efforts for increased demand.
- Support additional business development initiatives as needed.

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar sales or business development role, preferably in the hospitality or leisure sector.
- A well-established network of corporate event bookers and agency contacts.
- A strong passion for sports is highly advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of the local market is preferred.
- Proficient understanding of CRM systems.
- A collaborative team player.
- Outstanding time management abilities with a knack for prioritizing tasks.
- Capability to analyze and present data effectively to inform sales strategies.
