We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Design Engineer to join our team at Thomas Lee Recruitment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing high-precision sheet metal products for various industries.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients across diverse sectors, including machine tools, nuclear, medical devices, and material handling, to translate their requirements into manufacturable designs.
  • Utilize your expertise in welding principles, geometric tolerance, and detailed drawing creation to deliver high-quality designs that meet strict specifications.
  • Act as a consultative engineer, proposing solutions, alternative designs, and recommendations to clients.
  • Manage product Bills of Materials (BOM) within our ERP system and liaise with purchasing to ensure seamless product development.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure designs meet deadlines, legislative guidelines, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide hands-on support during the introduction of new and existing products in manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and product costing.
  • Experience working in a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) environment.
