Job Summary

This is an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to further advance their career and develop leadership, clinical, and prescribing skills within Cancer services at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a Senior Pharmacist for Cancer Services, including independent prescribing.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader and represent the team within the organisation and across interface.
  • Work as an expert pharmacist for cancer services, contributing to advanced decision-making.
  • Manage and implement services designed to improve pharmaceutical care to patients and extend the boundaries of clinical practice.
  • Identify and support the facilitation of Clinical Improvement Plans (CIPs) within the relevant directorate and participate in financial reporting and drug budget management.
  • Progress service improvement initiatives through multi-disciplinary working to ensure safe and timely provision of care.
  • Participate in clinical audit, research, risk management, and clinical guideline development.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications include a B. Pharm, M. Pharm, BSc (Pharmacy), or equivalent, and professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent) is also required.
  • Registered as an Independent Non-medical Prescriber.
  • Desirable qualifications include other postgraduate qualifications relevant to pharmacy practice, membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (MRPharmS), formal management training, and Diploma Tutor Accreditation.
  • Essential experience includes substantial post-registration experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner, including some experience managing patients in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience in supporting directorate activity, including drug expenditure reporting, formulary management, and DTC applications.
  • Experience of working within a role involving multidisciplinary communication.
  • Desirable experience includes experience of disciplinary matters and the ability to impart results from them to staff in an appropriate and considered manner.
