Job Opportunity at Great Ormond Street Hospital

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to join our General Medicine Pharmacy team as a Senior Specialist Pharmacist. This role will involve providing clinical ward-based pharmacy services to inpatients and day units, liaising with consultants and senior nursing staff to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care, and preparing new drug submissions and prescribing guidelines for the Drug & Therapeutics Committee.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver a clinical ward-based pharmacy service to inpatients and day units.
  • Liaise with consultants and senior nursing staff to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Prepare new drug submissions and prescribing guidelines for the Drug & Therapeutics Committee, taking into account local and national policies and procedures.
  • Lead, support, and develop junior pharmacists and foundation pharmacists in their clinical rotations.
  • Support pharmacists working within the CIVAS unit with prescription screening.
  • Participate in departmental and multidisciplinary audit/research activities to ensure cost-improvement and quality targets are met.
Requirements
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
  • Registered non-medical prescriber.
  • Experience as tutor/supervisor for pharmacists undertaking postgraduate courses or pre-registration pharmacists.
  • Policy and service development.
  • Project management.
  • An understanding of pharmaceutical issues in General Medicines and Surgery.
  • Training and supervising staff.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust offers a competitive salary of £61,927 to £68,676 per annum, inclusive of benefits and a supportive work environment.
