About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary SEN Teacher to join our team at Protocol Education. As a SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for supporting students with a range of special needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and students with ASD and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a specifically designed curriculum to mixed-aged classes and abilities.
  • Provide support to pupils with communication and interaction difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, and other challenges affecting their learning and confidence.
  • Address individual needs related to language comprehension, writing, organization, and other difficulties impacting learning.
  • Adapt to the varying range of abilities and complexities presented by students across different areas of the curriculum.
  • Offer support to pupils with medical conditions or physical limitations.
  • Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they undertake their work and ensure a constructive and positive environment is always enforced.
  • De-escalate situations within the classroom in the correct way, certifying safeguarding procedures are always adhered.
  • Collect work at the end of the lesson and return it to the appropriate recipient.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns using the school's referral procedures and safeguarding policies.
About You
  • QTS or PGCE Qualification
  • Experience within a UK secondary school environment
  • Previous experience working with children in a special school environment with complex needs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for supporting students' learning journeys.
  • A willingness to develop professionally in a collaborative and dynamic educational environment.
  • Initiative and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
