About the Role

We are seeking an experienced teacher to join our team as a permanent cover teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled educator to provide high-quality teaching and support to our students.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Teaching and Support: Deliver high-quality teaching in accordance with approved college standards, undertaking quality assurance in collaboration with the Head of Department, liaising closely with programme leads and curriculum managers as appropriate to deliver appropriate material to students on a wide variety of courses.
  2. Small Group Support: Provide small group support and/or 1-1 support for students with additional needs.
  3. English and Maths Provision: Promote and support English and Maths provision, both in class and on a one-to-one basis, including monitoring and addressing attendance and the movement of students to English and Maths lessons.
  4. Meetings and Events: Attend meetings, including staff meetings, parent evenings, marketing events, exam invigilation, courses and discussions, internal and external to the college as directed and reporting back as appropriate.
  5. Course Development: Work with colleagues throughout the college to develop courses, training methods and materials, including attendance at Focus Days and other compulsory CPD events and participate in peer observation for developmental purposes, ensuring adherence to college policies and practices.
  6. Departmental Administration: Assist with departmental administration including the timely marking of registers, and updating of Pro-Monitor as appropriate.
Key Requirements
  • Experience of teaching in a Further Education setting.
  • Ability to manage behaviours and individual needs of learners in the classroom.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with curriculum managers and other staff.
  • Ability to work with a range of students and staff, including those with additional needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  • Compliance with and understanding of all aspects of legislation and college policies and processes relating to safeguarding, health and safety, and GDPR.
