In this role, you will lead and exemplify the Surgical Care Specialist function, providing advanced perioperative support to patients diagnosed with kidney cancer in a high-capacity medical facility.
We are seeking two proactive Surgical Care Specialists to play a significant role in transitioning from conventional practices to developing and innovating a Surgical Care Specialist-led service, ensuring smooth and effective patient care throughout the kidney cancer treatment pathway.
Your responsibilities will include serving as a role model in this highly specialized position, advocating for change and enhancement in cancer care through research, innovation, education, and cutting-edge practices, ensuring our patients receive the most advanced kidney cancer diagnostics, treatments, and care.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in urology and surgical environments and have successfully completed their Surgical Care Specialist training. Furthermore, you should exhibit visionary leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate your colleagues.
This role is crucial for collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to broaden Surgical Care Specialist-led services, shaping the vision for a premier Urology service.

Qualifications & Professional Credentials
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse
- Relevant First Degree
- Master's Degree in Surgical Care Practice (Qualified Surgical Care Specialist)
- Teaching certification or extensive teaching experience
- Advanced assessment qualification (OSCE)
- Advanced communication skills training
- Evidence of recent professional, management, or leadership development
- Basic Surgical Skills (RCS course)
- First Surgical Assistant Course (Intuitive-Da Vinci)
Desirable Qualifications
- Non-medical prescribing course or willingness to undertake
- Intravesical chemotherapy (mitomycin) administration course or willingness to undertake
