We are in search of a highly qualified and empathetic Psychiatric Consultant to enhance our Adult Mental Health Service. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients experiencing a wide array of mental health disorders.
The Trust maintains robust collaborations with local academic institutions, and the consultant will play a significant role in the education and training of medical students. Our commitment to research is evident through our unique partnership with the University of Nottingham, where the Institute of Mental Health unites healthcare professionals and scholars to spearhead mental health research aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.
This position is subject to Royal College endorsement.
An additional remuneration package of 20% of the minimum point of the National Consultant contract will be applicable for this role.
Main Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be registered with the GMC and possess demonstrated expertise in General Adult Psychiatry. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide clinical guidance, and actively engage in the formulation and execution of innovative treatment strategies. Job Responsibilities
- Oversee, evaluate, and provide professional guidance to junior medical staff in accordance with Trust policies.
- Ensure compliance with the New Deal and Working Time Directive for junior medical staff.
- Manage administrative tasks related to patient care.
- Accurately document clinical activities and submit reports promptly.
- Engage in service and business planning for the locality and the broader mental health service.
- Participate in annual appraisals for consultants.
- Contribute to the Trust's academic programs, including lectures and seminars.
- Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhere to professional conduct standards.
- Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Comply with Trust policies and actively participate in financial management.

Qualifications
Essential
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- MRCPsych.
- Additional clinical qualifications.

- Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approved under section 12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice.
