Job Title: Senior Safety Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Senior Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our System team to perform safety activities in support of our Systems in development, manufacture, and in-service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain safety cases and associated documentation to ensure compliance with legislative and contractual safety requirements.
- Assess supplier safety compliance and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct safety analysis activities, including Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), to identify and mitigate risks.
- Provide safety input to life-cycle management core engineering processes and design reviews.
- Collaborate with Systems projects to ensure safety considerations are integrated into the design and development process.
- Produce reports to support site, facility, or equipment safety.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience. Membership in a relevant institution or registration with the Engineering Council is also desirable.
Essential Skills:
- Experience supporting safety case work in the Civil or Defence sectors.
- Ability to develop and maintain safety case reports, assess safety case validity, and provide safety assurance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in safety analysis tools and techniques, including FHA and FMEA.
- Experience working with nuclear regulation (DNSR or ONR) is desirable.
- Development of probabilistic and deterministic safety arguments is also desirable.
