We are seeking an experienced Consultant Clinical Microbiologist to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical microbiology service, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and guidance to medical and nursing staff, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of new laboratory techniques and technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical advisory services for clinical microbiology, including diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of patients
- Work collaboratively with clinical, scientific, laboratory, and quality teams to develop and implement new laboratory techniques and technologies
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance and risk management strategies
- Train and mentor laboratory staff, including trainee clinical scientists and biomedical scientists
- Participate in the duty microbiologist rota and provide out-of-hours consultant on-call service

Requirements- HCPC registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist (Clinical Microbiology)
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists by examination (Part 1 and Part 2)
- BSc in Microbiology or closely related science
- MSc in Clinical Microbiology or equivalent
- PhD in a relevant field
- Proven employment as a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist
- Provision of clinical advisory service for clinical microbiology
- Provision of out-of-hours consultant on-call service in clinical microbiology
