Role Summary

As a Trainee Maritime Pilot, you will embark on a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the necessary skills to become a fully qualified maritime pilot. This position is vital for providing expert guidance and support to commanding officers and vessel captains, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and operational protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:
  • Delivering pilotage assistance to designated vessels, adhering to established procedures and safety standards.
  • Assuming full accountability for the safe maneuvering of vessels utilizing tugs and other support assets.
  • Providing critical navigational advice to commanding officers and vessel masters regarding operational waters.

Training and Development

As a trainee, you will engage in hands-on learning experiences under the mentorship of qualified maritime pilots. This will involve:
  • Participating in pilotage operations and tug familiarization training.
  • Documenting your training progress and experiences.
  • Successfully completing examinations to obtain your limited and full pilot licenses.

Work Schedule

Upon successful completion of the training program, you will be expected to participate in a shift system that provides 24/7 pilotage support, ensuring operational readiness throughout the year.

Professional Development

Continuous professional development is essential in this role. You will be required to undertake ongoing training and maintain high standards of competence in all aspects of your duties.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:
  • STCW II/2 command qualification or equivalent experience.
  • An ENG1 medical certificate.
