Job Title: Finance Manager

Job Summary:

Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be working with a leading UK supply chain partner who are looking to add a finance manager to their team. As a finance manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth agenda within the selected business sector, in the pursuit of new business, launching new projects, and working on BAU.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and publish weekly management information for the site, incorporating P&L accounts down to contract level, as well as statistic-based productivity measures to assess the efficiency of each contract against budgetary targets.
  • Create detailed forecasts and the annual operating budget.
  • Prepare customer budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage processes and customer period ends to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Build commercial awareness of the contracts to develop financial analysis that supports customer strategy and growth plans.
  • Work closely with customer finance contacts to support understanding of expenditure and decision-making processes.
  • Track and coordinate continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Influence operations and establish a critical role in the management team to improve overall performance, risk management, and commercial achievement.
  • Improve decision-making and demonstrate value through insight and interpretation and challenge.
  • Advise and educate operational management on all financial and commercial requirements.
  • Drive performance through budgets and forecasts to demonstrate control and understanding.
  • Motivate teams, provide direction, and effectively monitor performance to ensure high levels of performance are achieved.
  • Communicate ideas and information clearly, accurately, effectively, and persuasively both orally and in writing.
  • Create business approval papers to support organic growth, new business opportunities, and renewals as required for review by the Senior Business Partner.
  • Lead contract negotiations for small-size opportunities within contract guidelines and approval paper targets.
  • Draft and present contract checklists.
  • Lead finance and commercial workstreams for small/medium projects for onboarding and business wins support pricing for new business and renewals.
  • P&L ownership and driving performance, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Review weekly financial reporting.
  • Lead and manage delivery of the annual budgets and customer forecasts.
  • Develop strong working relationships with customers.
  • Work with non-finance stakeholders to develop strong commercial awareness and understanding of budget and key cost drivers.
  • Develop models and reporting to drive performance through an enhanced understanding of internal and external commercial and financial drivers.

  • Customer-facing experience and ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance.
  • Ability to work under pressure while driving performance.
  • Passionate about project work and winning new business.
  • Must be flexible and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests.
  • Excellent PC skills and the ability to harness IT systems to benefit the operation.
  • A can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • A track record of success in a similar role.
  • Significant experience in the implementation and application of commercial and financial controls and processes.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
