We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our administrative team, providing essential support within the core hours of operation.
Department: Gastroenterology
Appointment Band: Candidates will be considered for either Band 3 or Band 4 based on their relevant experience, as outlined in our development framework for medical secretaries. This framework allows for a structured progression from Band 3 to Band 4, contingent upon a formal evaluation after a specified period.
As a vital member of the clinical administration team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a key role in delivering a comprehensive secretarial service to our medical professionals, including consultants and nursing staff. Your contributions will be instrumental in managing their workloads effectively and enhancing the overall efficiency of our services.
Key Responsibilities
You will bring prior experience in medical secretarial and administrative roles, ideally within a healthcare environment. Proficiency in IT is essential, alongside a solid educational background and advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are crucial. The ability to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, and manage competing priorities under pressure is essential. A positive and proactive attitude is highly valued.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent experience.
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Medical Terminology Qualification Level 2 or relevant experience.
- Customer Care Qualification Level 2.
Desirable:
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Previous team collaboration experience.
