The Crank Grinder/Central Lathe Turner is a key member of our team at Shorterm Group, responsible for grinding cranks to precise management specifications. This role requires a high level of precision and quality in all tasks, ensuring the delivery of exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:- Centre lathe turning and grinding cranks to exact specifications.
- Utilize a range of measuring equipment for component checks and quality control.
- Write and interpret instructions and procedures accurately, ensuring seamless communication with the team.
- Obtain and analyze relevant information from various sources to inform decision-making.
- Control machines and processes efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company Health, Safety & Environmental instructions and requirements.
- Apply the latest relevant knowledge to tasks, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
- Support all relevant 5S activities, promoting a culture of organization and efficiency.
- Report any near misses and dispose of waste correctly, ensuring a clean and safe workspace.
- Communicate job issues or problems to the line manager, providing timely updates and solutions.
- Machinist experience, with a minimum of 1-year experience in a relevant rail or automotive industry (preferred).
- Practical and mechanically oriented, with a strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong attention to detail.
- Recognized engineering qualification preferred.
