Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Scrub Team Leader to join our Orthopaedics team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the scrub team in Orthopaedics, ensuring the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department.
  • Assess care needs, plan, deliver, and evaluate high-standard nursing care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical and professional standards.
  • Initiate and develop evidence-based practice, ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes.
  • Ensure the administration and documentation of drugs are in accordance with Trust policy.
Person Specification
  • First-level registration with the NMC and HCPC registration.
  • Post-registration education programme related to speciality.
  • Evidence of professional development.
  • Working towards a degree ILS/ALS.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant political and professional issues in healthcare.
  • Understanding of principles of budget management.
  • Considerable experience within the speciality.
  • Mentoring and facilitating experience.
  • Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care.
  • Experience at Band 5.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance & Benchmarking.
Skills and Ability
  • Ability to command the confidence of colleagues.
  • Effective team working and facilitation skills with an ability to work autonomously as appropriate.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Skills Ability to write clear, concise, and relevant reports, communication orally and in written form with clarity and precision.
  • Familiar with the concept of clinical supervision.
