Job Title: Subcategory Manager

Harland & Wolff is a leading multisite fabrication company operating in the maritime and offshore industry. We have a strong presence in six services, five markets, and four distinct sites.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Subcategory Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of the overall supply chain strategy, improving operational efficiency, and adding value to our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of the supply chain strategy to improve operational efficiency and add value to the business.
- Prepare tenders, EOI's, and Framework Agreements to ensure best practice.
- Support the creation and delivery of templates to streamline processes.
- Manage and develop supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
- Implement spend/supply assessments, consolidation reviews, and sourcing analyses to ensure best practice.
- Negotiate pricing with key suppliers in line with the group purchasing strategy.
- Develop and maintain category strategies to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Review and improve supplier onboarding processes and due diligence to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Work with stakeholders to identify requirements for inclusion in categories.
- Familiarize yourself with regulatory requirements and industry innovations to ensure best practice.
- Cascade best practice and guidance to the remainder of the Procurement team.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure KPIs (quality management, performance) and contractual issues are addressed.
- Map cost levers for subcategories to ensure optimal pricing.
- Support the creation of value engineering models to negotiate best pricing for categories.
- Support ESG metrics within the supplier base.
- Deal with queries and complaints from internal departments.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree and staff and/or technical project/process management experience, or equivalent.
- Relevant Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering Degree or proof of relevant experience.
- MCIPS or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of different types of contracts, including any law/contract background.
Additional Information
- Accountable for assisting in the setting of direction and deployment of resources.
- Provides support for project/process expertise and/or manages the coordination of activities of a section or department through subordinate supervisors/team leads and/or professional staff.
- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals in own area.
- Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
- Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organisation.
