Job Responsibilities

To excel in this position, a robust understanding of control systems principles, encompassing hardware, software, and networking components, is essential.

  • Technical Support
Deliver expert assistance to clients, addressing inquiries, diagnosing system challenges, and resolving issues promptly to minimize operational interruptions.

  • Preventive Maintenance
Execute regular inspections, system evaluations, and preventive maintenance tasks to guarantee the ongoing functionality and dependability of control systems.

  • Fault Diagnosis
Detect and assess intricate system faults, employing troubleshooting methodologies, diagnostic instruments, and protocols to effectively resolve challenges.

  • System Enhancement
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement system adjustments, upgrades, and improvements aimed at enhancing performance, efficiency, and functionality.

  • Documentation
Maintain precise records of system configurations, maintenance actions, troubleshooting methods, and solutions provided, ensuring thorough documentation for future reference.

  • Training and Development


Educate end-users and support staff on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems, empowering them to independently manage basic system issues.


  • Continuous Improvement


Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to control system engineering, actively contributing innovative ideas for process enhancements within the organization.


This role is primarily based at our headquarters, with occasional requirements to work at client locations across the UK.

Working Hours
Our standard workweek consists of 40 hours, with a flexible working hours policy.

Employees are expected to be present in the office during core hours of 09:30 to 16:00 from Monday to Thursday, with early departures on Fridays at 13:00 subject to work obligations.

As part of your role, you will be required to undertake a reasonable amount of paid overtime, including some night shifts and weekends.

On-Call Responsibilities

Upon successful completion of your probationary period or once adequately trained, participation in the on-call rota will be expected.

This typically involves being on-call for one week each month, carrying a call-out phone 24/7, and being available to respond to customer call-outs as necessary.

For this, you will receive £100 per week, in addition to any time compensated at the relevant rate for responding to out-of-hours call-outs.

We also support our London contracts through an on-call engineer rota, where participation may require residing in London for one week in provided accommodation, with an additional £500 per week remuneration.

Required Experience/Qualifications

While expertise in all areas listed below is not anticipated, we are committed to providing on-the-job training and mentorship to address any skill gaps for suitable candidates.

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Previous experience in delivering technical support for control systems or comparable systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly utilized in control systems, such as PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Familiarity with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and HMI (Human Machine Interface) design.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard control system protocols, such as Modbus, Profibus, or Ethernet/IP.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
