About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Underwriter to join their team in the London office. This is a hybrid working opportunity that offers a unique blend of remote and office-based work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide underwriting support to the wider team through individual referrals and complex risk underwriting.
  • Take ownership of large and complex risk underwriting, ensuring accurate and timely decisions.
  • Provide underwriting guidance to the business in respect of Binding Authorities with carriers, ensuring compliance with agreed underwriting authorities.
  • Contribute to the development and performance of the underwriting system, providing technical underwriting input and expertise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience in Property or Commercial business, with a strong focus on SME and mid-market sectors.
  • Proven experience working in an MGA or with delegated authority, with a deep understanding of policy wordings, covers, rating, and underwriting features.
  • Experience of underwriting at a portfolio level, with a strong ability to manage broker relationships and work in a fast-paced environment.
