Job Title: Director of Tax
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to join our team at Proactive Solutions Group Ltd. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients across various industry sectors, including sole-traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Portfolio Management: Manage the tax compliance work on a client portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax returns and other compliance requirements.
- Departmental Oversight: Assist in the day-to-day management of the tax department, including assigning work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities, and helping with the development of junior team members.
- Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring their tax needs are met.
- Tax Planning: Assist with tax planning projects, including being self-sufficient on certain tax planning projects and identifying opportunities to sell additional services to existing clients and prospective new clients.
- Financial Management: Manage the financial implications of client work, including recoveries, identification of additional work to be billed for, and selling this to clients, as well as identifying and chasing late payment of fees.
- Forensic Assignments: Undertake tasks within tax-related forensic assignments, including report drafting.
- Software and Procedures: Be confident in the use of the latest software and be able to discuss and recommend to clients, as well as understanding and adhering to our internal software and procedures.
- Internal Projects: Contribute or manage internal projects that may not be directly related to portfolio management.
- Commercial Acumen: Develop an emerging sense of commercial acumen and effectively manage the financial aspects of the portfolio.
Requirements:
- Planning and Organisation: Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical Knowledge: Good technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance, as well as familiarity with personal and business tax regulations, VAT, and PAYE.
- Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience of accounts staff, with the ability to develop and motivate team members.
- Driving Licence: Full driving licence, with unrestricted access to a car.
- Qualifications: Preferred ACA/ACCA qualified.
Salary and Benefits:
£40-60k + benefits, with the option for a hybrid working arrangement.
