Job Summary

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Process Engineer to join our team in India. As a key member of our Process Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of process engineering deliverables for our EPCM services in the petrochemical industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve Engineering Contractor's process engineering deliverables in accordance with approved engineering design criteria, procedures, and standards.
  • Coordinate the detailed design review of the facility and monitor the status of Engineering Contractor's Process Engineering deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Review and oversee the scope and work plan for the process discipline for all phases of the project, ensuring that all specifications are met and standards are followed.
  • Ensure the delivery of project deliverables, including PFDs/UFDs, HMB, equipment sizing, selection, and specification, PSVs, and flare system sizing and specification.
  • Identify and address design defects in the Engineering Contractor's design to maintain the technical quality of all process deliverables.
  • Participate in complex technical discussions with the Owner, Engineering Contractor, licensors, and suppliers to validate technical decisions.
  • Review and oversee overall plant and unit simulations and/or H&MBs, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs).
  • Review and oversee equipment sizes, including vessels, columns, heat exchanger requirements, and packaged equipment specifications.
  • Participate in major reviews, such as PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, and 3D model reviews, representing the process engineering discipline and assessing and challenging Engineering Contractor's Process Design on behalf of the Owner.
  • Review and oversee relief load narratives, relief load calculations, load summaries, and relief valve datasheets.
  • Review and oversee complex technical studies and resolve technical issues on the project.
Requirements
  • A recognized bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum considerable experience of Process Engineering experience in EPC and/or operating industry.
  • Experience of being in a process engineering leadership role and circa 10 years of EDC/VCM experience in design and/or operation.
  • Excellent understanding of chemical engineering principles of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer, and thermodynamics, and their general application to process design.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices, and how to apply them for design execution.
  • Extensive experience with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
  • Extensive experience in relief calculation methodologies and industry codes and standards applicable to pressure relief design.
  • Knowledgeable in process design of equipment, including vessels, columns, heat exchangers, and package process specifications for equipment and control valves.
  • Experience with process configuration and optimization studies to increase product yield, reduce utility consumption (steam, power, cooling water), and reduce/mitigate flare loads.
