As the lead for MEP services delivery, you will oversee health and safety, subcontractor performance, and well-being while collaborating with clients, main contractors, and consultants. You will be capable of guiding the project team on small to medium-sized projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
Project Management:
- Overseeing the creation of interconnected project schedules, including preconstruction, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Leading the development of PPC and roadmaps.
- Contributing to the weekly dependency schedule to ensure project progress aligns with timelines.
- Driving and documenting the weekly look-ahead plan for resources and progress.
- Facilitating weekly programme coordination meetings with a thorough understanding of dependencies, challenges, and potential solutions.
- Managing and sequencing supply chain and internal resources according to project requirements.
Health & Safety:
- Developing and implementing project health and safety strategies.
- Coordinating audits of installation works to ensure adherence to Mace processes.
- Ensuring compliance with project strategies and plans through rigorous auditing.
- Managing subcontractor health and safety documentation to ensure validity.
- Overseeing the auditing of supply chain activities on-site in accordance with approved RAMS.
- Creating schedules for weekend and early/late working.
- Leading the management of mechanical and electrical safe systems of work.
- Conducting EHS inspections and reporting.
- Facilitating daily morning safety briefings.
- Leading MEP health and safety meetings.
Commercial Management:
- Leading the development of project preliminaries and resource needs.
- Formulating project procurement strategies.
- Coordinating the review of subcontractor tender documents, including scopes of work and pricing schedules.
- Managing procurement of subcontractor packages in alignment with business and project strategies.
- Overseeing project finances through profit and loss reporting and participating in commercial meetings.
- Managing subcontractor risk registers.
- Coordinating weekly dependency schedules for subcontractors to ensure project timelines are met.
- Facilitating monthly progress meetings with subcontractors.
- Monitoring and challenging weekly look-ahead plans for resources and progress.
- Authorizing detailed site instructions for the commercial team.
Quality Assurance & Commissioning:
- Monitoring and auditing installation works to ensure compliance with project strategies.
- Ensuring MEP installation works meet construction status requirements through regular checks.
- Overseeing compliance with MEP specifications during construction.
- Developing commissioning strategies and managing close-out items.
- Coordinating the management of subcontractor packages throughout the commissioning process.
- Participating in commissioning meetings with a comprehensive understanding of project timelines and issues.
Engineering Oversight:
- Coordinating detailed engineering reviews during preconstruction to ensure design alignment.
- Managing design reviews and close-out items for packages.
- Implementing value engineering initiatives.
- Overseeing design management for subcontractor packages in compliance with project requirements and best practices.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of either mechanical or electrical systems, including installation techniques and commissioning requirements.
- Understanding of construction elements, including sequencing and dependencies.
- Possession of a CSCS management card.
- Holding an SMSTS certification.
- Completion of a trade or technical apprenticeship in building services, achieving a BTECH Level 3/HNC and NVQ or equivalent.
- Experience in managing project teams on small to medium-sized projects.
Additional Skills:
- Participation in internal/external management development programs.
- Possession of an engineering-based Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree.
- Membership in a professional institution, such as CIBSE.
