We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Leaver Support Specialist to join our dynamic Leaving Care Team in Central Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young people as they transition out of the care system and into adulthood.
Key Responsibilities- Provide ongoing support to care leavers, ensuring their needs are met in line with statutory guidelines.
- Engage in direct work with young people and the key figures in their lives, building trusting relationships and promoting their well-being.
- Participate in the office-based duty system, assisting with urgent cases and contributing to the development and improvement of the Leaving Care Service.
- Promote the safety and protection of children and young people, with a focus on preventing exploitation and facilitating community-based activities to enhance their independence and integration into adult life.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and attend relevant meetings, training, and functions to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- NVQ Level 3 in Care of Children and Young People or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a similar role working with vulnerable children and young people, with a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds and a full UK driving licence is desirable, though not essential.
