We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Dover Precision Components. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for planning and executing CNC programs to control contour path machining of metal/composite parts on automatic machine tools.
Key Responsibilities- Analyse drawings and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates
- Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths
- Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outline sequence of operations required to machine parts
- Create, revise and edit CNC Programs in line with routed operations, create set-up documents to supplement written programs
- Liaise with shop floor personnel, Shift Managers and suppliers regarding required tooling and fixtures
- Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and improve productivity
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of undertaking off-line CNC programming, using CAD/CAM software within a lean-manufacturing work environment
- Previous experience with Gibbs CAM software is an advantage
- Qualified to a minimum of NVQ 3, or equivalent such as a time-served apprenticeship or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Prince2 or similar project management experience would be an advantage
