Manufacturing Engineer

About the Job:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing CNC programs to control contour path machining of metal/composite parts on automatic machine tools. This role requires a strong background in precision engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in off-line CNC programming using CAD/CAM software within a lean-manufacturing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyzing drawings and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, machine speeds and feed rates, and determining reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
- Computing angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outlining sequence of operations required to machine parts.
- Creating, revising and editing CNC Programs in line with routed operations, and creating set-up documents to supplement written programs.
- Liaising with shop floor personnel, Shift Managers and suppliers regarding required tooling and fixtures.
- Creation of bills of material for manufactured components, and creation of routings for manufactured components including route card improvements.
- Identifying and implementing solutions that lead to cost savings, and applying principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and improve productivity.
- Actively seeking out and identifying Continuous Improvement opportunities.
