About the Role

We are seeking an experienced administrator to join our team as a Mental Health Act Administrator at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built low secure hospital in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

As a Mental Health Act Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and confidential management of Mental Health Act correspondence and documentation. You will work closely with clinicians, allied professionals, and service users to ensure that all necessary procedures are followed and that the service operates smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with external authorities to arrange, process, and document information related to patient admission, referrals, discharges, and renewals.
  • Check all legal documentation in relation to patient detention under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007).
  • Maintain patients' clinical records in accordance with Elysium Healthcare procedures.
  • Produce audits and statistics as requested by the Administration Manager and MHA Admin Advisor.
  • Supervise the work within the Mental Health Act Admin Department.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of administration/office systems.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Confidence in setting up video conferencing meetings.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007) and associated legislation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use initiative to plan and prioritize workload.
