A full-time opportunity has emerged for a Clinical Ward Leader within the General Medicine / Endocrinology department. This role encompasses the management of a 37-bed unit.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong track record in overseeing, directing, and optimizing ward operations efficiently and effectively.
As a clinical exemplar, you will be committed to fostering team development alongside your own professional advancement, exemplifying best practices.
Exceptional communication abilities and high clinical standards are essential, along with a genuine passion for enhancing the experience of both patients and staff.
Applicants must possess substantial post-registration experience, including Band 6 (or equivalent) experience in an acute care environment.
We are dedicated to supporting your skill development for this role, particularly in areas such as personnel management and the nuances of mentoring and coaching in practice. Your journey towards advancing in management will be a focal point of your professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an expert clinical practitioner within your designated area, delivering direct patient care while managing, leading, coordinating, and supervising nursing practices.
- Assume 24-hour ongoing responsibility for the coordination and oversight of all clinical activities within your designated area.
- Ensure the efficient and effective use of all resources necessary to provide optimal quality care to your patient group.
- Act as a deputy for the Clinical Nurse Manager in their absence, promoting evidence-based practices and overseeing staff supervision and the policies and procedures within your clinical area.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse (RGN), Paediatric specialties (RSCN), Operating Theatres RGN, or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Evidence of ongoing professional development or qualifications relevant to the specialty area.
Experience
Essential
- Significant post-registration experience with Band 6 or equivalent in the relevant specialty.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing a clinical team.
- Demonstrated managerial capabilities.
- High-level clinical skills and knowledge.
- Evidence of coordinating and managing daily operational issues regularly.
- Experience in the education and training of staff.
Desirable
- Experience in a preceptor or mentor role.
- Involvement in nursing audits and research initiatives.
