Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Yard Operative to join our team at our Bedford site. As a Yard Operative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our vehicle storage and preparation processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Store and locate vehicles on site between the yard and the auction hall, ensuring efficient use of space and minimizing delays.
  • Line and lot vehicles for auction, adhering to our quality standards and ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.
  • Site, transfer, and release vehicles in line with our Gating Process, maintaining accurate records and minimizing errors.
  • Image vehicles in line with our current systems, ensuring high-quality images are captured and uploaded to our database.
  • Maintain a safe driving standard, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure health and safety standards and practices are adhered to in the yard and auction hall, preventing near misses, accidents, and damage to vehicles and customers.
  • Carry out any other tasks in the yard department to ensure operational requirements are met, including managing and monitoring vehicle movement on site.
  • Be responsible for jump starting vehicles when needed, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the yard and work areas at all times, adhering to our high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  • Ensure the upkeep of all tools, property, and services, reporting any issues or concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Management, Transport, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Take written and verbal instructions from management and colleagues, demonstrating a strong understanding of our processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Remain accustomed or open to working in all-weather conditions, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Have good organizational and communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
  • Work under pressure to ensure smooth running of site and auction, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations.
  • Have the ability to deal with demanding customers, maintaining good customer service and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Have a strong work ethic, confidence, and self-motivation, managing your own workload and willing to assist in other areas of the business.
