A leading contractor in the water industry is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to strengthen their Construction team in the Severn Trent region. This role will oversee projects across the Midlands, with hybrid working options available.

In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Operations and be responsible for managing Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability compliance across all delivered construction work. You will lead a local construction delivery team, ensuring that all construction activities are executed in line with the scheme's deliverables.

This role will oversee multiple projects across Waste and Clean Water sites, utilizing both the in-house Self Delivery team and specialist subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage site construction teams to deliver projects within approved budgets and timelines; facilitate project construction kick-off meetings and lead health checks.
  • Oversee supplier performance in relation to safety, time, and quality, ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are suitable and comprehensive.
  • Take the lead on Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsals, and Fit for Assembly sign-offs to promote innovation and drive high performance.
  • Focus on achieving zero waste and reducing embodied carbon within construction activities.
  • Ensure that site teams raise the necessary contractual and commercial notices to the Project Team promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Site Management team to assess long-term and short-term resource needs (labour, plant, and materials).
  • Ensure full Health & Safety compliance, fostering a culture where team members feel safe and empowered to raise safety concerns.
  • Promote the use of standard products and innovative techniques, helping to maintain the company's position as an industry leader.

About You

Requirements:

  • Temporary Works experience or qualification.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Degree or equivalent in a construction-related discipline.
  • APMP or equivalent certification.
  • Extensive experience managing large-scale construction delivery programmes.
  • Industry experience in the water/wastewater treatment sector.
  • Strong experience in managing and monitoring project programmes.
  • Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and stakeholders.
  • Delivery-focused, with a strong ability to set and achieve targets.
  • Capable of managing and motivating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Strategic, operational, technical, and management skills with strong commercial acumen.
