The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Raw Materials Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Supply Chain Assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all raw materials and their supply chains are properly approved for use by the company. This will involve conducting risk assessments, monitoring, verification, and ongoing assessment of raw materials and their supply chains.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the live specifications database for all raw materials and packaging.
- Refresh, review, and sign off all raw material and packaging specifications.
- Conduct risk assessments of new materials and supply chains, once approved via the NPD process and interim assessment by Raw Materials Assurance Manager.
- Maintain raw material micro/compositional analysis schedules, review results, and take corrective action for out-of-specification results.
- Perform raw material replacement assessments to ensure compliance with customer specifications, policies, and standards.
- Participate in assessments to maintain legality, safety, quality, and authenticity of raw materials and their supply chains.
- Provide supply chain and raw material data in audits, challenges, and crisis situations.
- Maintain due diligence records for raw material and supply chain assurance policy compliance.
- Approve packaging compliance and maintain records.
- Conduct intake inspections of raw materials in the absence of Intake QA.
- Sign off high-risk intake checks.
- Provide supplier data to support export documentation processes.
Requirements
- Demonstrable relevant experience in a quality role with food manufacturing.
- Detailed knowledge of a range of raw materials, food manufacturing processes, and the ability to demonstrate a good understanding of fundamentals.
- Knowledge of food legislation, BRCGS, and customer requirements.
- Understanding of food defense and its interaction within raw materials, with the potential to be a key contributor to this program.
- Ability to work with IT packages, including Windows 365 and ERP systems.
