Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our Science Department at a thriving secondary school in London. As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of science education to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Set Up Equipment: Ensure that all necessary equipment and materials are prepared and set up for science practicals, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of lab equipment, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring they are well-stocked and organized.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to teachers and students during practical lessons.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
  • Health and Safety: Oversee health and safety regulations in the lab, ensuring a safe environment for staff and students.
  • Hazardous Waste Disposal: Assist with the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Resource Development: Collaborate with the Science Department to develop engaging practical resources and demonstrations.
  • Event Support: Support school events by assisting with science demonstrations and experiments.
Requirements
  • Lab Experience: Prior experience in a lab setting, especially within a school, is preferred.
  • Scientific Knowledge: A keen interest in science and a solid understanding of basic scientific principles.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a focus on health and safety compliance.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, students, and staff.
  • Lab Familiarity: Familiarity with lab equipment and basic scientific software.
