Are you passionate about science and eager to inspire the next generation of budding scientists? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science Technician to join the science department at a thriving secondary school in Lambeth.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science practicals, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed.
Manage the inventory of lab equipment, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring they are well-stocked and organised.
Support teachers and students during practical lessons, offering technical guidance when needed.
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
Oversee health and safety regulations in the lab, ensuring a safe environment for staff and students.
Assist with the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with safety guidelines.
Collaborate with the Science Department to develop engaging practical resources and demonstrations.
Support school events by assisting with science demonstrations and experiments.Requirements:
Prior experience in a lab setting, especially within a school, is preferred.
A keen interest in science and a solid understanding of basic scientific principles.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on health and safety compliance.
Good communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, students, and staff.
Familiarity with lab equipment and basic scientific software.
A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
A science-related qualification or experience in laboratory techniques is beneficial but not essential.Why Join Us?
