We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Daksta | Connecting Mission Critical Talent. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and delivering design, construction, and installation projects for major/complex contracts.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership:
- Lead the development, design, and delivery of engineering projects/services to agreed client requirements, budgets, profit margins, and quality standards.
- Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, identifying and securing the necessary changes in advance of it becoming a project delivery issue.
- Provide expert mechanical engineering input and mentor, coach, and develop less experienced members of the team.
Technical/Project Management:
- Lead and deliver design, construction, and installation projects, including cost and profit diagnosis, feasibility studies, and project fee proposals.
- Work closely with clients and project teams to establish project requirements and review status advised by project personnel and external parties.
- Modify schedules or plans as required and prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.
- Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractor teams.
- Carry out engineering reviews to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards.
- Support clients in the tender and procurement of MEP contractors and MEP equipment.
- Lead the coordination of engineering services, together with hands-on delivery of concept and detailed designs.
- Ensure risk and performance monitoring analysis takes place through effective systems of internal control and delegation.
- Ensure project delivery from a project management, contract management, QA/QC, and technical review perspective.
- Manage design compliance with the latest CDM regulations.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- C.Eng status would be beneficial.
- Significant experience in specification design for a range of building types/sectors, including data centers.
- Experienced at confidently representing other engineering services disciplines in client meetings.
- Sound knowledge and working application of key health and safety issues/legislation.
- Appreciation and working knowledge of contract and business law.
- High level of experience in chairing and facilitating project team meetings.
