Position Overview
We are currently in search of three dedicated and experienced Lead Community Pediatric Nurses to join our Community Children's Nursing (CCN) team. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional care to children and young individuals within their communities.
The CCN team is committed to working in partnership with children, families, and a diverse multi-disciplinary team to provide care that is as close to home as possible. Our focus is on delivering high-quality, holistic, and family-centered care to children and young people (CYP) with various nursing needs across the region.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Lead Community Pediatric Nurse include:
- Managing a designated caseload and delivering specialized, high-quality nursing care that addresses the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of children with nursing requirements.
- Overseeing the integrated care pathways for children with short-term health conditions.
- Providing guidance and oversight to junior staff, ensuring effective team collaboration.
- Working closely with families to offer emotional support and specialized clinical care, adapting to the evolving needs of the child and their caregivers.
- Educating families and caregivers on complex nursing procedures to empower them in their caregiving roles.
- Participating in an on-call rota, providing essential end-of-life care as needed.
- Exhibiting excellence in clinical practice by staying informed on the latest developments in nursing care and treatments, ensuring evidence-based practice through current research.
- Maintaining a professional profile and fulfilling ongoing training requirements as mandated by the regulatory body.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- BSc in Nursing or Registered Nurse in Child or Learning Disability Nursing, currently registered with the regulatory body.
- Post-registration specialist training relevant to the field.
- Willingness to obtain a CCN Specialist Practitioner Qualification within two years of appointment.
- Teaching qualification or equivalent experience in mentorship.
- Experience as a practice assessor or supervisor.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in assessing and developing patient care plans.
- Experience in delivering care and clinical interventions to patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience in teaching, training, and supervising junior staff and students.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience in developing policies and guidelines to manage resources effectively.
Additional Skills:
- Competence at Band 6 level.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information sensitively.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and direct others effectively.
- Problem-solving and advocacy skills.
