Job SummaryThe Pediatric Emergency Nurse (Part Time) will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the emergency department, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions, including pediatric emergencies
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and effective communication
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
- Stay up-to-date with the latest pediatric emergency nursing practices and evidence-based guidelines
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
- Ability and willingness to interpret basic arrhythmias
- Ability and willingness to work on Medical/Surgical Unit as required
- Current certification in or willingness to obtain: ACLS, PALS, BCLS, CTAS, Delegated medical acts
- Leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Assessment and interviewing skills
- Ability and willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required
- Ability and willingness to flex time to meet unit, staff, and patient needs
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Basic computer knowledge
- Participation in staff meetings and unit-specific projects
- Communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
- Adherence to Pediatric Emergency Standards Inc.'s 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others)
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Pediatric Emergency Standards Inc.
- Emergency Nursing Certificate
- Physical Assessment Course
- TNCC or equivalent
- Recent Medical/Surgical/PACU/Day Surgery/Critical Care experience
- Two years recent Emergency experience
- NRP
