About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in Derby, UK. As a key member of our Mechanical Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for defining the train system architecture, operational modes, and functionalities, taking into account external and internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, ensuring consistency and compatibility between subsystems
  • Perform train system FMECA in coordination with the RAMS team
  • Define and implement technical purchasing specifications for non-catalog components
  • Drive technical relationships with suppliers, managing QCD commitments, risks, and validation
  • Support the Technical Specification Engineer in defining applicable train configurations
  • Ensure coordination between teams on interfaces, performances, and technical issues resolution
  • Participate in technical meetings with customers to provide support
  • Develop and implement train verification strategies in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Write train-level test specifications and ensure train integration and tuning
  • Resolve technical open issues, from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure
  • Provide reporting at project and metier levels
About You

We value passion and attitude over experience. To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with a strong understanding of Electrical principles or other relevant discipline
  • Strong experience in system engineering and knowledge integration environments
  • Railway experience is preferable but not essential
  • Experience in requirement management tools like DOORS would be an advantage
  • Strong communication and customer orientation skills
  • Ability to communicate with internal stakeholders and suppliers on a regular basis
