Hatfield Health Centre is a busy and established medical practice seeking a skilled and enthusiastic receptionist to join our friendly team.
We are a SystmOne practice, and experience as a GP receptionist is highly desirable, but not essential.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to provide an effective and efficient reception service to patients and visitors, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience.
Key Tasks:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and visitors.
- Provide care navigation and signposting of patients.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required.
- Liaise with other clinical staff, including district nurses, health visitors, etc.
- Work in accordance with practice protocols.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover.
- Enter requests for appointments, tasks, general queries into clinical systems, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and referring to doctors where necessary.
- Ensure efficient running of the appointment system and monitor the flow of patients into treatment/consulting rooms.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Good IT knowledge and skills.
- Experience in a patient or customer service environment.
- Excellent listening, written, and interpersonal skills with both staff, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Friendly, approachable, flexible manner.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new processes and systems.
Desirable:
- Experience of working as a receptionist in General Practice, NHS, Social Care, or similar environment preferred.
- Experience of using SystmOne.
- Highly responsive and able to adapt to what is required.
- Thrives in a fast-paced working organization.
Qualifications:
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent.
