We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Sewell Group. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in developing robust pre-contract elemental cost plans and ensuring commercial opportunities are maximised.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess tender/bid documentation and requirements, and report findings to the team.
- Develop tender strategy and continuously monitor progress.
- Ensure all supplementary information is in place and up-to-date.
- Seek to constantly improve the quality and accuracy of the estimating function.
- Work closely with the internal bid team and their advisors to ensure accurate commercial feedback is provided at regular intervals during the bid process.
- Full working knowledge of an appropriate Estimating Software System and ensure upgrades are understood and implemented.
- Awareness of current Health & Safety requirements and changes.
- Ensure Risk Register is applied and monitored.
- Influence and support team members to innovate and achieve optimum solutions.
- Effectively communicate bid strategy and proposed solutions to the Construction Team.
- Obtain feedback from the Construction Team and utilise in improving the process.
- Seek opportunities to learn about changes and innovations in the industry.
- Ensure own skill base is developed.
- The development of Client/Supplier relationships.
- Identify the Client(s) and understand their needs.
- Build effective relationships to establish two-way dialogue.
- Seek to establish professional trust and mutual respect.
- Endeavour to maintain relationships into the future.
- Influence and support suppliers to innovate and achieve optimum solutions.
- Attend Post Tender negotiations.
- Prepare submission documents.
- Learn to develop the Tender Strategy.
- Develop business development appreciation and understanding.
- Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
- Previous experience within a competitive and successful estimating / surveying / commercial team or department.
- Previous knowledge and experience in ConQuest for estimating.
- A positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work using own initiative but also as part of a close-knit team.
- Excellent levels of computer literacy, and be fluent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Have a proactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard.
- Hold excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients & subcontractors.
- Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks.
- Possess a positive approach to learning, development, and progression.
- Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required).
- Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice.
