Salary: circa £90,000 per annum + Car, Bonus & Benefits

Location: West Midlands

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director and leading a dedicated team, the successful candidate will be responsible for all financial aspects of the business, driving the financial strategy and planning, ensuring the company's financial health and stability, supporting sustainable growth and profitability, and playing a crucial role in structuring the business for sale and supporting the sales process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement financial planning and strategy to drive business growth and profitability
  2. Lead the financial management function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis
  3. Manage risk and ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws
  4. Source and manage investment and fundraising opportunities to support business growth
  5. Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure individual and team success
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including the senior executive team, board of directors, and external partners
  7. Play a key role in structuring the business for sale and supporting the sales process

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Finance Director or similar role in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment
  2. In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, and financial regulations
  3. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop business-critical insights
  4. Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office
  5. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
  6. Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
  7. Experience in financial modelling and forecasting, with the ability to develop and implement financial plans and strategies

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in managing financial operations in an engineering company, ideally high-volume machined components; experience of supplying distributors is advantageous but not essential
  2. Knowledge of industry-specific financial challenges and opportunities
  3. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  6. Experience with ERP systems and financial software implementation
  7. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
