Job Description

At Saunders Scott, we are seeking a highly skilled Java Technical Architect to lead the design and development of our telecom solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining telecom applications using Java EE technologies, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance telecom solutions, leveraging deep knowledge of telecom protocols, network architecture, and OSS/BSS systems.
  • Collaborate with network engineers to integrate Java-based solutions with telecom infrastructure, enhancing service delivery and network performance.
  • Architect and implement OSS/BSS systems that streamline billing and customer management, order management processes.
  • Implement security protocols in line with telecom industry standards, safeguarding customer data and ensuring compliance with regulations.

System Requirements Management:

  • Prepare functional requirements/system specifications based on business requirements.
  • Prepare non-functional requirements (performance and scalability).
  • Interact with customers for requirements signoff.
  • Provide inputs to UI/UX teams.
  • Review acceptance test criteria.

Architectural Thinking/Architecture Principles:

  • Provide technology leadership in line with best-in-class practices.
  • Serve as a consultant to customers for solving their problems proactively through right solutions.
  • Suggest use cases based on experience from other projects/industries.
  • Review and approve architecture and deployment strategy with all stakeholders.

Architectural Design knowledge/Thinking:

  • Prepare and provide design guidelines.
  • Ensure design is scalable.
  • Produce design artefacts for the project.
  • Review design documents.
  • Provide alternate design when needed.

Architecture evaluation & analysis:

  • Review software development in accordance with design and architectural guidelines.
  • Perform performance fine-tuning.
  • Assess functional/technical debt and its impact.
  • Support complex integration activities.

Client focus / Communication skills:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the customer.
  • Incorporate customer needs in organization policy and program changes.
  • Create long-term win-win partnerships with customers.

Problem Management:

  • Gain agreement on the problem-solving process.
  • Assess risk.
  • Identify decision points and criteria.
  • Predict and explain long-term trends and implications for alternatives.
  • Train others in the process of eliciting alternatives and assessing their impact.

Change Management:

  • Change management certification.
  • Liaison to the project team.
  • Prepare managers and supervisors to lead changes.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
