Reporting to: Attendance and Intervention Assistant Manager

About the Department:

The Attendance and Intervention team plays a crucial role in student administration, working closely with other departments to support student success. As an Attendance and Intervention Officer, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to students, while also contributing to the development of strategies to improve attendance and retention rates.

Purpose:

To provide Attendance and Intervention support within William College, working closely with stakeholders to coordinate registry support functions and support the student journey.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Attendance Strategies: Develop and implement methods for evaluating student performance, including management of attendance records and registry support.
  • Monitor and Assess Student Progression: Monitor, coordinate, and assess student progression and retention rates.
  • Support Student Progress: Organize activities aimed at supporting student progress, with an emphasis on improving consistent attendance patterns.
  • Provide Guidance and Support: Provide support and guidance to students on course selection and academic progression.
  • Collaborate with Partner Universities: Collaborate closely with partner universities to manage student data accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely and authentic communication regarding student engagement.
  • Address Student and Institutional Requirements: Proactively address the requirements of both students and educational institutions.
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and offer clear, authoritative advice on complex regulations and procedures within a complex environment.
  • Generate Reports: Generate precise and timely reports for the senior management team on both a scheduled and ad hoc basis.
  • Enhance Team Skills: Work with the Attendance and Intervention Lead/Student Support Manager to enhance the skills of the members in Intervention Support and Student Support teams through the creation of guidance materials, sharing of best practices, and conducting regular training and process evaluations.
  • Offer Expertise: Offer expertise on procedures and regulations related to the Registry and partner universities, briefing staff when necessary and addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Plan and Conduct Events: Plan and conduct events and workshops as part of the Attendance role.
  • Demonstrate Experience: Demonstrate experience of delivering high-profile, complex activities that involve liaison with external stakeholders.
  • Develop Assessment Strategies: Assist in developing new assessment strategies, that can improve student engagement and retention.

Education and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university

Desirable:

  • Customer Service Qualification

Experience and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Knowledge in Customer Service Standards
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and workloads, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative, demonstrating a positive approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness to learn and develop and contribute to the wider activities of improving the overall attendance of the school
