Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Attendance Officer to join our team at Principal Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and complete daily attendance registers, tracking attendance of vulnerable groups of pupils, and managing the process of issuing penalty notices to parents.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure daily attendance registers are accurate and complete, and follow up with staff members about any incomplete data.
  2. Track attendance of vulnerable groups of pupils and share information with school leaders.
  3. Manage the process of issuing penalty notices to parents.
  4. Identify pupils that need additional support to improve their attendance.
  5. Work with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote the best interests of pupils, including sharing concerns where necessary.
  6. Produce and interpret attendance reports for school leaders, identifying key statistics, reasons for absence and any patterns of concern.
  7. Manage attendance returns for the school census.
  8. Maintain accurate records of communications with parents/carers and relevant interventions.
  9. Build and refresh knowledge of the school's MIS and other relevant systems.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as an attendance officer or in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
  2. Eligibility to work in the UK (essential).
  3. DBS on an update service is a must or willingness to get a new one.
  4. Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations.
  5. Generate attendance reports on SIMS database.
  6. Demonstrate attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

To qualify for this post, you must hold a relevant qualification with at least three months of experience in the last two years.
