About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Buyer to join our dynamic team at NEXT. As a Trainee Buyer, you will play a crucial role in developing our product ranges, working closely with our Merchandisers and Designers to source materials, negotiate costs, and approve product designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our product development process, including sourcing materials, negotiating costs, and approving product designs.
  • Liaise with suppliers from Europe to the Far East to track samples for selection meetings and production.
  • Prepare garments and accessories for selection meetings, trade meetings, and online photoshoots.
  • Stay up-to-date with key fashion and market trends, using your knowledge to identify new product initiatives and opportunities.
  • Conduct competitor shop analysis and present findings to your team to inform our product development strategy.
  • Maintain accurate buying systems and work closely with the trainee merchandiser to analyze daily best and worst sellers.
  • Ensure an organized department, including sample storage and approval library.
The Scheme

You will start your month-long training program on one of our 'Product' teams, where you will learn the skills required to progress within our Buying function. With support from your team, you will take on responsibility for millions of pounds worth of stock from day one.
