About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Trainee Buyer to join our dynamic team at Next. As a Trainee Buyer, you will play a key role in developing our product range and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our product development process, including sourcing, negotiating, and approving materials, colours, and fit for production.
  • Liaise with suppliers from Europe to the Far East to track samples for selection meetings and production.
  • Prepare garments and accessories for selection meetings, trade meetings, and online photoshoots.
  • Stay up-to-date with key fashion and market trends by gaining inspiration from various sources.
  • Use your knowledge of relevant trends to identify new product initiatives that can enhance our current product offering.
  • Conduct competitor shop analysis and present findings to your team to gain an understanding of where Next sits in the market.
  • Maintain accurate buying systems and work closely with the trainee merchandiser to analyze daily best and worst sellers.
  • Ensure an organized department, including sample storage and approval library.
About the Scheme

You will start your 12-18 month training programme on one of our 'Product' teams - Womenswear, Menswear, Childrenswear, Home, or on our Brands team. With support from your team, you will learn the skills required to progress within our Buying function. Responsibility comes early, and you will be looking after millions of pounds worth of stock from day one.
