Family Psychology Mutual is seeking a dedicated and experienced Specialist Family Therapist to join our growing team.
In this role, you will provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to adolescents experiencing conduct disorder and challenging behaviors within their families. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting these young individuals and their families through a range of difficulties.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments of adolescents with conduct disorder, including their family dynamics and individual needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
- Provide a range of therapeutic modalities, including family therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy.
- Collaborate with other professionals involved in the client's care, such as social workers, educators, and medical practitioners.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and interventions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of program initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for adolescents with conduct disorder and their families.
Essential Qualifications
- A professional qualification in social work, occupational health, or nursing.
- Qualification as a systemic practitioner or a family therapist or psychotherapist at a postgraduate level.
- A master's level degree in a relevant discipline such as forensic psychology, clinical, or applied psychology.
- Professional registration with a national registrant body.
Knowledge and Understanding
Essential Knowledge and Understanding
- In-depth knowledge of legislation related to the client group (adolescents with conduct disorder, and offending behavior; social care) and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management.
- Strong understanding of basic systemic principles and formulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of child and young people's development.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical issues, safeguarding, and strategic frameworks, including The Children Act 1989, and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management of services for children and young people.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2022 and protected characteristics.
Desirable Knowledge and Understanding
- Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups (personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities, etc.).

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to develop networks with professionals from other agencies to promote effective team working.
- Interpersonally calm and able to defuse difficult, volatile situations.
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity and make decisions in situations of incomplete information, recognizing the need to seek further advice when necessary.
- Ability to exercise appropriate levels of self-care, recognizing when it is necessary to take active steps to maintain fitness to practice.
