As a key member of the Corporate Responsibility team, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our strategies focused on minimizing food waste and promoting a circular economy.
Your role will involve fostering collaboration and innovation, working closely with various teams and stakeholders to instigate change and integrate sustainable practices throughout our supply chains and operations.
This position provides a vibrant and fast-paced setting where you can deepen your knowledge in environmental sustainability, impact company policies, and spearhead initiatives that will benefit both our organization and the wider industry.
Join us in our mission towards a more sustainable future and make a meaningful difference.
Your responsibilities
You will be pivotal in enhancing our strategies for food waste reduction and circular economy.
Collaborating within the Corporate Responsibility Team, you will engage with multiple stakeholders across our supply chains and operations to fulfill our sustainability commitments.
Your tasks will include formulating and executing the group’s environmental sustainability strategy, particularly concerning food waste and circularity.
You will oversee the food waste and redistribution program, partnering with retail and operational teams to establish clear processes and pathways for achieving our targets.
Additionally, you will champion the Circularity program within our General Merchandise (GM) sector, embedding our approach and cultivating relationships with pertinent organizations.
Your duties will also encompass managing supplier partnerships, analyzing sustainability data, leading complex projects, and overseeing communication and reporting efforts.
Your enthusiasm for sustainability, outstanding communication abilities, and capacity to navigate a matrix-style organization will be vital for the successful implementation of our sustainability initiatives.
Who we are looking for
We are in search of a highly skilled and dedicated professional with a robust background in environmental sustainability, particularly in food waste and circular economy strategies.
With a relevant degree and extensive practical experience, you possess a thorough understanding of the WRAP food waste hierarchy and circularity principles, alongside experience in managing supplier relationships and complex sustainability projects.
Your exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, enable you to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and influence decisions at all levels.
As a leader, you exhibit strong project management and delivery capabilities, consistently prioritizing sustainable outcomes.
Your analytical thinking and systems approach allow you to navigate complex information and challenges to make informed decisions that align with Sainsbury's values and sustainability commitments.
Your dedication to continuous personal development reflects your commitment to staying informed about the latest trends and best practices in environmental resource management and circularity.
