Job Title: Adult Community Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Community Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry to join our team at North East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to older adult people with mental health needs across Brentwood, Thurrock, and Basildon. They will provide senior medical support to the team, direct input on clinical cases, and guidance and supervision to junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care to older adult people with mental health needs.
  • Provide senior medical support to the team and direct input on clinical cases.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior colleagues.
  • Work directly with older adult people and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external older adult mental health providers and acute hospitals.
  • Develop links with local acute trusts A&E departments and inpatient wards.
  • Be responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care.
  • Support peers and the team manager and be an effective team member while working on their own initiative.
  • Supervise junior colleagues and liaise with other health and social professionals and agencies.
Person Specification:
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • Section 12 certification, or a commitment to work towards this.
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in older adults, including neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
