Job Overview

We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Community Nutrition Specialist within our organization. This role involves conducting nutritional assessments and interventions, as well as providing consultation and supervision to assistants, trainees, and members of the multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in nutritional assessment and intervention for clients with specific health needs is essential. A strong interest in working with diverse populations is crucial, along with the ability to apply evidence-based nutritional practices. Additional skills in advanced dietary therapy and experience in training and consultation would be advantageous. The candidate should be capable of leading initiatives while also working independently and flexibly.
The successful candidate will join a well-established multidisciplinary team comprising various healthcare professionals.

Main Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The position involves contributing to the development of the NELFT Nutrition Assessment Service, which provides diagnostic and consultation services for adults across our service areas. The role includes providing local assessment clinics in designated localities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Organizing and prioritizing personal and team workloads effectively.
  2. Acting as a deputy in the absence of the team manager.
  3. Understanding and adhering to Trust protocols and procedures.
  4. Maintaining accurate records for audit purposes.
  5. Ensuring effective risk management at the team level through reporting and assessing risks.

Probationary Period

This position is subject to a probationary period, with internal applicants exempt unless currently undergoing a probationary period.

Induction Process

NELFT places significant importance on welcoming and inducting new employees. All new starters will participate in a comprehensive induction program, which includes mandatory training and systems training.

High Cost Area Supplement

This position includes a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary for Outer London and 5% for Fringe areas.

Detailed Responsibilities

1. Acting as a senior clinician within the NELFT Nutrition Service, providing specialized post-diagnostic interventions and consultations.

2. Delivering specialized assessment and intervention services to individuals with specific dietary needs.

3. Conducting comprehensive health needs and risk assessments for referred clients.

4. Providing consultation and support to other professionals working with clients.

5. Delivering specialized training across various service tiers.

6. Contributing to the operational management of the NELFT Nutrition Service.

7. Managing the operations of specialized nutrition clinics.

8. Collaborating on audit and evaluative measures to assess service outcomes.

9. Supervising practitioners, assistants, and trainees.

10. Offering specialized consultation and training to diverse audiences.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential Criteria:

  • Awareness of NHS plans and clinical governance priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of a range of health interventions and their application.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in relevant services.
  • Experience in delivering specialized training to various audiences.

Qualifications
